My school tried to save money and uses old phone lines to transport our ethernet connections. so the jack in the wall is an old phone port. They charge $25 for a 15ft cable in the bookstore for an rj11-rj45 cable. Any way i can make it myself?

Easy once you determine the wiring pattern for the cable.
Ethernet 568-A or 568-B only uses four of the wires in the cable.
