BFBC2 Crashing after ~10min gameplay on HD 6870

Hello all,

components:
HIS H687F1G2M Radeon HD 6870 1024MB GDDR5 PCIe 2.1 x16 Video Card
Intel i5 Sandy bridge 2500k 3.3Ghz
Biostar TP67B+ LGA 1155 P67 ATX Intel Motherboard
ModXStream Pro 700W Modular ATX Power Supply
Viper II Sector 5 Series PVV34G1600LLKB 4GB
Antec 300 case

I have everything on stock settings, and whenever I play BFBC2, my computer freezes/crashes after about 10 minutes of gameplay. I have to manually turn off the computer, I cannot CTRL ALT DEL out of anything. It just straight up freezes. I tried both on high and medium settings, noticing no artifacts or anything weird. My cores get up to about ~66c on my intel, GPU gets up to about ~63c. Are these temps safe? I would assume so.

Tried reinstalling latest drivers...what am I missing here?

Thanks

I'm having the same problem, and it might be related to sound instead of video. Just before mine goes bonkers, the sound locks up.

usually heat can cause such an issue, could the heat from the GPU or CPU. you try to return it to default and added GPU fan speed.

I tried reinstalling BC2. Since then, I haven't had a problem.

You should try this and report back, let me know if it fixes it for you.

Heat is definately not a issue on my part. And I'll let you know on the Reinstall part.

Did you try reinstalling? I just played for about 3 hours, no problems at all.

edit: just read your response fully. let me know after you reinstall.

Can't do it until this weekend. I go by WebsterRC on BFBC2.

Hello everybody! I am also having this crashing issue with the HIS H687F1G2M Radeon HD 6870 1024MB GDDR5 PCIe 2.1 x16 Video Card. I get about 10 minuets of gameplay on BF2BC and my pc just shuts off completely. Originally I thought it was my 500w power supply so I bought a 1000w supply and the game still crashed. I've also tried reinstalling the game but no luck. Everywhere online there doesn't seem to be a solution.

I have this exact same problem. Just crashes the whole computer in a multiplayer game. Tried all the suggestions. I only have issues w/ Battlefield Bad Company 2. Every other game is fine. I have Windows 7 x64, XFX HD 6870 x2 (crossfired), 6 gigs ram, AMD Phenomx4, 1000 watt power supply. I'm pulling my hair out can someone please help.

Turn off any b.g. monitoring software you have on: FRAPS, GPUZ, Afterburner, Steam overlay. This can be a punkbuster issue on multiplayer servers.

i had this problem on one of my builds i switched the game down to DX10 and it ran smooth. but i never tried anything else to fix it so if your not bothered about DX11 just switch to DX10
lemme know if it works or not :)

I too am very curious to see if dropping it down to DX10 works, or if a full re-install of the game is required. A friend who uses a 6870 mentioned something similar, and I wasn't able to help.

Hey guys, I joined this forum just to reply to this post.

I have the exact same issue!! BC2 just crashes even when my 6870 is on stock settings. My temperatures don't even go above 60 degrees!!! I have the MSI Twin Frozr II 6870.

Has anyone found a solution yet? At first I thought it was a PSU issue so I am glad I stumbled upon this thread!

I found that over all with several different ati cards that I have had problems with bc2 try underclocking your card and if your using ccc then disable the ati catylist intelligent thing...sorry been awhile since I have used ccc for my ati cards and set all the settings to max in ccc and give that a try... let us know if that helps....I had to do that for sniper ghost warrior for it to run smooth but it never did crash

Well, I'm going to select Viper's answer as best.

After uninstalling and reinstalling BC2 and my 6870 driver, I've been perfectly fine playing it. I hope this works for everyone else.
