Copy and pasting not working only on desktop

Hi,
Suddenly the copy and pasting commands are not working in the desktop of my laptop, also the files cannot be dragged and moved on to the folder. But if a folder in the drive is open , eg. d drive then it is done properly.
Pls suggest how can this be fixed

You can try:
1) system restore to date before error started,
2) Repair Install from CD.
3) Command Prompt: sfc /scannow.

A few more options:
U can make a new user.
Copy something and check in Start>Run >Clipbrd if it appears.

I don't know if this helps, but someone fix it with:
Go for Start-->Run-->services.msc in the right pane
Try to enable/disable the following services: Network DDE DSDM, Network DDE, Clipbook.
