I had planned on a spinpoinr f3 on a new build. But was reading about the ssd. While pricing ssd at newegg I came across some refurbished velporaptor hard drives pretty cheap.
I can't do both ssd and hard drive . So I thought about a vraptor. Any comments on it being refubished.

Which of the refurbhished drives are you talking about?

I'm not a fan of buying refurbished, as it is a device that was broken and repaired. I would just purchase the Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB and call it a day. It is close in speeds to the VRaptor with greater storage. Then later on, you can add a SSD for your OS / Apps when you have additional money. The VRaptors are typically not worth the price to performance you pay (as an owner I can speak of that... SSD kills it in performance!!)

Velociraptors are worse than the Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB. The 600GB Velociraptors MIGHT keep up, but they cost WAY more and I don't like refurbed products--I've had a lot of disappointing experiences to the point where I'll avoid it if at all possible in the future.
