PCI-E 16x? 8x? 2.0? Sli? Crossfire? 8x 8x? 16x 8x? huh? Tags: Motherboards PCI Express SLI Crossfire Last response: November 29, 2009 5:50 AM in Motherboards Share Aro2220 November 29, 2009 4:16:32 AM I'm trying to buy a motherboard and I'm confused. I understand that I want a PCI-Express 16x 2.0... What gets confusing is when we start talking about SLI and Crossfire. Most of these motherboards I see have one pci-express at 16x and another at 8x. Is this normal? Are there some that run at 16x 16x? Even for the board that is 16x, 8x...it says that it runs sli/crossfire in 8x 8x mode... Can anyone help me understand the current state of pci-express slots? Aro2220 November 29, 2009 5:50:50 AM thanks a lot, that helped. it looks like what I want is a board that can run sli/crossfire in 8x8 mode. that gives me the option of expanding into crossfire/sli while not breaking the bank Can't find your answer ?
