Hi Guys!

I recently bought an 8600 gso for my son's desktop with the specs below. After installation, the monitor stayed black as if the cpu was off.

Specs:
Motherboard - Asus P5VD2-Vm SE
Processor- Intel 2.4 Ghz Dual Core
RAM- 2x1 GB DDR2
HD - 320Gb
Monitor - Samsung Syncmaster 740N

The gfx card has an extra PCIE power cord connected to a 500w psu. Any ideas will be appreciated. Cheers!

Welcome to the forums!

Go in the bios with the cable hooked up to the motherboard and disable onboard video and enable PCI-Express.
Shutdown and connect the cable to the video card.
