Wireless router reconfiguration

Ok I find myself really lost while adding a wireless router to my computer at home. we have SMC Barricade 54Mbps SMCWBR14-G2. My mother in law had it configured to her netbook with windows Vista. Now we are trying to configure it to an Imac with Mac OS X 10.6.2. We have tried a lot of other things but nothing was working right. The I reset it and tried all over again and it doesn't work now either. I don't know really anything about connecting a wireless router so I am pretty much winging it. Any help or suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated. If not we are going to purchase something new and try that instead. thanks so much have a great day!

You will often find issues with connecting PC type routers to Macs -- it usually comes down to problems and terminological differences with wireless security.

Older Macs only support WEP -- so go to the router's setup screens using the PC and disable wireless security and see if you can, later, get WEP working on both PC and Mac.
