So basically, my friend feels its time to get a new pc as his laptop is 6 years old. Mainly wants to use it to watch movies/tv etc on his TV in the living room, and maybe some light gaming (older or PC only games as he uses his xbox 360)
Nothing set in stone, but he would like the case to look somewhat like the Apollo. I think the power supply may be overkill but I wanted to make sure it was decent quality with perhaps upgradability. Was hoping onboard video and sound would be good enough, but if anyone has experience with this particular board please let me know. My idea was we could add a video card/sound card on as needed.
You wouldn't need that 650W Corsair, even the 450W Corsair would do fine. It'll save some money. What games does he usually play? That IGP HD3200 might not be enough.
Looking at some more cpu reviews, I wonder if I should use something like the Intel e5200 at the same price, seems to perform better, and is easily OC'ed for some additional performance. My only concern would be fan noise, how does that compare to the AMD solution. (assuming stock fan)
Edit: looking more into it, I realize that the Mobo choices are not as good for intel solution, hard to find HDMI out, Optical out, also the IGP is less powerful.
