excuse the dumbness, i have just inherited a Sony Vaio, on the left hand
side is a yellow socket, am i right in thinking ( hoping ) this will output
the screen to a tv ?if so ( cos it doesn't work ) are there any special
drivers i need ?

Just to add, having found the manual online and found a video cable in a
drawer, it still doesn't work, any help would be appreciated

If your video drivers are properly installed, you shouldn't need to
do anything other than use the key combination Fn + F8 while the cable
is connected to your television or VCR. That's how it works on my
Picturebook and R505 (you didn't mention your model, btw).
