Hello.
I am about to build my first PC (waiting for the hd 5870 and my COSMOS case still to arrive :S).

I have an i7 860 with Corsair 4x2 XMS3 ddr3 1600MHz CL9 on an ASUS P7P55D Deluxe.

I have absolutely no idea about overclocikng so this conversation may take a while... lol

I wish to run my RAM at stock 1600 MHz so from what i read the easiest solution would be to go for the xmp profiles since Corsair supports them.
At the same time i would prefer my i7 860 to be running at 'bout 3GHz 24/7. Again "googling" shows that the Intel Turbo Mode delivers this speed by default.

Is this the case or do i need to manually change settings ?

And if so what settings in BIOS precisely.
I repeat that i am another noob at overclocking... :p

Yes this thread indeed is very useful but it doesn't mention a single thing about Intel's xmp profiles.

I repeat that i want to run my Corsair 8Gb ram at their stock speed 1600MHz while at the same time having my i7 860 spinning around 3GHz all the time...

Does that mean manually overclocking or only XMP profile and Intel Turbo Mode ???
