This will be my first home built pc. I have put together a list of components, excluding a video card(Im thinking dual 4850's) but my real questions are Will it work? and Will it work well? my budget is around $800 usd

Yes, it's all compatible and it will work well. I prefer DDR2 800 RAM that runs at 1.8v and western digital hard drives.... but that's a preference. Good luck

If available, the HD4770 DDR5 (not the DDR3 one) It's just that the availability of this card is very bad, high demand, low 40nm yields.

Also check out the HD4850 or the HD4870 to check prices and deals.

I like the quality and warranty of XFX. Just be aware you can't collect on 2 rebates if they're sent to the same address. Not that i'd ever suggest you have one sent to a close family member or anything to get around that restriction.
