    In regards to PSU/Case combo:
is the CM worth the extra 50 bucks (or perhaps 40 bucks aftershipping)?
  4. Hmm, I added the Antec 300 to my cart and it didn't charge me any shipping, so if that's the case, go with the 300.

Also, that's not a 4870x2, its a fancy 4870. 4890 has higher core and memory clocks.
  5. I see, good to know. I will put together an updated list.
  6. what do you think about

    Seagate Barracuda LP ST31000520AS 1TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive

  7. I'm a fan of the WD Black drives and wouldn't recommend anything else, but that's a matter of personal opinion. The 640GB drive will be the fastest non-raptor drive you can buy if you don't need the extra space.

  9. Your mobo supports AMD2/2+ sockets, but not AMD3. You're cutting off your upgrade path by not getting an AMD 2+/3 mobo instead. Unless you do heavy photoshopping, I think the 720 has more value than the 940, but its your call.

Other than that it looks fine.
  10. Well I would like to stick with a 4 core for longevity. Do you have any suggestions for a mobo for 940?

    thanks again

  12. I recently purchased that mobo with my 720 and have been very happy with it. Nice BIOS, easy to OC, good onboard sound and no onboard gfx to mess with.
  13. excellent, thanks.
  14. so if I went with a 720 would there be a noticeable difference when upgrading to ddr3 ram?
  15. Now, no. In the future, maybe. Given the price now, its probably worth it but you won't see any benefits right away.
  16. thanks, I ended up going with the 940. Ill post later once its all together!
  17. Definitely go for the hd4890 and newegg have the Gigabyte for $200 plus a $20 cash back. Also with the motherboard I would suggest going for a Gigabyte 790X-UD4P. I just think it has a lot better build quality than the Asrock. Either way it wll be a great system.
  18. thanks I switched to that video card, excellent deal. Ill post final build in a few.

  20. Hi... very nice setup...
You can change the CPU cooler to the Classic Xig S1283 as its performance would be as good or slightly better than the Dark knight.
  21. the scythe mugen cooler is well thought of too for that socket, and ~35$US. it's rather large though.
  22. Okay here's what I did when I assembled my system.

    ONE-FOXCONN DESTROYER MOTHER BOARD $165.00
This board is da bomb - read about it and you will see.
    One - AMD Phenom 2 Deneb 940 3.0 ghz cpu $225.00 OC to 3.7ghz
One- ULTRA CHILLTEC CPU TEC COOLER $90.00
TWO-= NIVIDIA GEOFORCE 9600 GSO 748 DDR3 RAM in SLI $180.00 FOR BOTH MINUS $40.00 REBATE. The motherboard can run UP TO FOUR VIDEO CARDS IN SLI.
    8 Gig OCX DDR2 800 type memory 4x2gig sticks $95.00
    One - SATA Raptor 1 Terabyte HDD 7200rpm $129.00
One-SOPRANORS system case from bestbuy $99.00
    One- 730w Power supply $140.00

    Price $1083.00

If you have your own hard drive knock 129.00 off that and if only want 4 gig of ram knock another 45.00 off also.

I play Mass Effect, Bio Shock, Halo, and Crysis (HIGH setting due to using XP Pro SP3 - Vista sucks bad) all the others at max settings FPS is above 40-50 in crysis..
