I just finished putting together my new i7 system, and everything went very well, for the most part. The OCZ Gold 1600 ram I bought arrived with one module faulty. By faulty, I mean that I cannot boot in triple channel mode with three modules, only in single channel mode with one module. I have tried swapping the modules and running one at a time, and I have identified the culprit.

My question is if I will be able to run ram that is rated at 1.95V and undervolt it in the mean time while I wait for my new set to come back through the RMA process through Newegg? I just built a AM3 system for my friend, and I could use one of his DDR3 modules for the time being if that would work.

I absolutely do not want to cause any harm to his or my systems, so is running his memory rated at 1.95V at 1.60V or 1.50V safe?

Thanks for your time.

Ok, thanks wimcle. I know loose timings aren't desirable if they can be avoided, but running the 1.95V spec ram @ 1.65V and manually adjusting the timings won't hurt anything, right?
