The SLI is a definite plus with your resolution. I would def. go with the SLI, that way you don't encounter lag, stuttering, etc...you can play your games smoothly like they should be played. Makes gaming that much more enjoyable.

As far as your parts being bottlenecked by other parts on this build...no. But your going to have the "tomshardware sharks" as I call them spamming the crap out of this thread. They are going to see your $2,000 budget and they are not going to be happy until every last penny of it is accounted for...in other words they will try to talk you into spending all $2,000 and then some. Spendy mobo's, h/s, case, etc...it's the kind of typical bs I see on here day in and day out. It's like this....that build I posted will do any easy 3.8GHz or better on the over clock. Probably better with that D0 Stepping cpu in that build. Now the sweet spot for FPS in games for the i7 920 according to the test reviews done on this site is anywhere from 3.4GHz - 3.8GHz with 3.6GHz being the sweet spot.

You don't need a $300+ motherboard for that, you don't need a $300+ Lian-Li case w/crap ventilation for that. You don't need $150+ Corsair Dominator memory for that. You don't need a $80+ h/s the size of the titanic hanging off your motherboard.... God I can go on and on and on about this subject...I'm just giving you fair warning now before they start spamming this thread with their over priced hardware. If that isn't bad enough your going to get the AMD fan club posting on here lying through their teeth about i7's not being good for gaming, telling you to get a ATI vid card even though they run hotter than the sun, and the drivers are usually crap....etc...

To sum it up that build I posted will run cool, quite, over clock well, and it will eat games up for lunch.

I don't mind the forums here, but there are definitely idiots. I suppose some people just see a budget and assume the OP wants to spend every penny of it. I personally wouldn't ever spend more than $1500 on a system, but to each his own. And as for the AMD fanboys, maybe some of them are subconsciously trying to keep the company afloat.

Not sure about smithereen but I have an idea of what he's talking about in regards to the $1,500. I'm of the same thinking he is. But what boosted the price of your build was two things...vid cards, and blue ray...and because of those vid cards I went up from a 750w psu to a 850w (ok three things). Those vid cards though are pretty much a must with your resolution for the fact they have 1gb of memory compared to the standard 896mb with the gtx 275's and gtx 260's. If I had went with the gtx 275's and the 750w psu that build would have been $1,500 or less...but again with your size of monitor those 285's are pretty much the only way to go....and of course the blu ray.

Even though his monitor size is 32", did you notice the resolution ? it is just a 1080p resolution...graphics are pixel dependent and not size dependent...
And we all know even a single GTX 275 can handle that resolution and a GTX 275 or above SLI is required for playing @ even more high FPS and with AA and AF turned ON...
He can easily cut down to 2x GTX 275 and his rig will still be able to eat games up for lunch

TBH I was going off a thread in another forum in regards to that monitor size. I kept debating with the 275's and the 285's. I'l do a quick edit at the bottom of that build with the 275's and a 750w psu. Thanks for the heads up gkay.
