Can esata port connected to external sata drive can boot and run os

In case of main(internal) hard drive failure in a laptop, can esata port connected to external sata drive can boot and run the laptop operating system/programs like a normal internal hard drive.
Then how the internal and esata hardives will be configured?

  2. Go to your bios and see if it detects your esata drive. If it does, then it can boot.
