Well, for some reason, screenshots I'm taking in the game aren't being saved
to the storytelling folder anymore. I even cleaned it out and moved all the
ones I had in there and it still won't do it. Ticks me off because I built
a nifty house and took photos of it to share in binaries and now can't find
them.

Check the individual neighborhood folders. University added a
storytelling folder into each neigbhorhood folder and moved each
screenshot into its cooresponding neighborhood. They also did leave
the original Storytelling folder, but the only shots that are left in
there in my case are those from custom neighborhoods. I don't believe
that it still puts the new custom neighborhood screenshots there. The
folder may just be a relic from a pre-University install.

Also, if the shots still show up ingame, they're there somewhere.

If you have Uni installed, each neighbourhood now has it's own
storytelling folder, which makesit a whole lot easier to find those pics.HTH

Thanks, both of you!

I learn something new every time I access this newsgroup. LOL

But I can't post the photos until the doofus over in binaries is done
clogging it up with umpteen versions of the pirated game.

Why not? It's not as if you'll run out of space, besides it's easy to
filter out what you don't want.

Holy Smoke, how long do these people usually go on posting???
I was hoping they would do it the one session then that was it.

You are prob. right. Plonk the nasty person. Delete from server.

Yes, but the temptation to use "Catch Up" will be too great for most people
and they will simply mark everything on the server as read as long as this
bunghole is posting like this. I think I will wait till the flurry is over
with. He's up to well over 7000 posts so far and shows no sign of slowing
down.

There is very little option to catching up if you have dial up. Or are
suggesting we should all just stay on-line until by now, over 7000 posts at
388K are downloaded and then have them filtered as 'read'?

I see with dismay that OE doesn;t have a 'remove from server' option for the
newsgroups. Bummer.

Well, I use OE and all I download are the subject lines of the posts. Each
post downloads as I click on it, only after I hit the space bar.. I've
disabled the preview window. This idiot is up to 11,000 posts and still
going strong.

Now he seems to be posting University, over and over again. All that shows
up, though, is a bunch of odd characters in the body of the posts. There
are no .rar files attached. I have no idea what he's doing.

I do have a 'blocked sender' option, though.

It's either a case of someone who has no idea of how to post binaries
or a "usenet terrorist" flooding the group and trying to make life
difficult for the regulars. If you give in and don't post, he has
achieved what he wanted, why do that?

I can think of several reasons. I don't post just to be posting. If I post
pictures from my game, I do it to share with others and without any
feedback, why bother? The server doesn't keep binaries on it for long,
sometimes only a few hours. If some jerk is clogging it up like that,
people aren't going to be downloading anything until they know the coast is
clear, so my pictures will be lost forever and no one will see them. What's
the point of that?

Of course.

So, just because you don't filter it out you assume that no-one else
will either? Most people will filter it out as it is very easy to do.
You also seem to assume that everyone use he same server, or a server
that only keeps binaries for a few hours. Most decent servers keep
binaries for weeks.

I can only go by the experience I've had. Over the years, I've used three
diffeent ISPs with three different news servers. None of them kept the
binaries on them for more than 24 hours, often a lot less than that.

Unlucky you:-) My ISP doesn't even have a news server and hasn't heard
of Usenet, forcing me to subscribe to a good NSP:-)

Most pay news providers or outsourced ones do. These days, ISPs that
run their own news servers can't afford to, which doesn't mean they
aren't decent, just that they can't spend the money they would have
to. I can get you the latest stats on how many gigs are on the news
spool per day these days, now that the pirates are putting entire
movies and TV shows--and games, like that moron--in binaries
newsgroups.

But many of those keep binaries in low-traffic groups longer than they
do in high-traffic ones.

Something like 2000GB, perhaps much more?
