Services & Startup problem

Last response: in Windows XP

My computer has been acting a little strange on startup
recently. It seems that at some point, the services that
load up on startup, stop loading. It takes about two
minutes before they finish loading.

For example, about a third of the services (in
services.msc) open normally on startup.... then the
services just stop loading. About two minutes later, the
rest finish loading. This was never a problem before.
All of my Norton products (which usually load on startup)
take forever to load each time I startup Windows.

In a possibly related problem, the "Webclient" service is
neither stopped nor started. It's status always appears
as "Stopping.." Could this be part of the reason?

Thanks.

Marco, go to Control Panel>AdminTools>Services>Webclient. Choose to
Disable it Temporarily.
Restart and see what happens. You may also want to check for
trojans, spyware and adware.
