Want to Upgrade processor in Intel motherboard

We have a Intel BOXDG965RYCK LGA 775 Intel G965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard. It's just running a P4 which is starting to become long in the tooth. Is it possible for me to upgrade the processor on this motherboard to make it last a little longer? What kind of Intel processor (model and speed) exactly could I upgrade to? don't really have the cash for a whole new computer right now.

The fastest processor is the E6700, but you might be able to find a used E6600 for not too much money. The E6300 in the list is the old one. The new Celeron E6300 is not compatible. Overclocking is not possible with that motherboard.

wow, thanks! are there some good spots to look for used processors? I'm not even sure how much a new E6700 would be, but i'll try looking it up, maybe i can afford that to go top of the line!
