tell the exact model. its probably cause early multy-core cpus were basicly 2(4) cores put together on one die.

Use realtemp/coretemp/speedfan(Any one).

It will tell how many cores your PC has.

Try CPU-Z, that is quite strange.

but i agree with jimishtar, older quadcores were just 2 dualcores on a single die.

could be that....?

in properties it says amd phenom 9650 quad core, processor 2.31 ghz.

and i this is what it said in everest also but next to cpu type it said 2x 2300 MHz, so i think i got mhz and ghz mixed up, i do have 4 cores.

also to see whats being use where just go ............. ctrl alt and delete together 1 time then click on performance and you should see 4 squares theres your 4 cores

or even under windows task manager (ctrl alt and delete together) under processes right click any program then click on set affinity and you should have an option to select up to 4 cores this is good to use if you have a program that only users 2 cores you can change it to 4
