This is the Acer 21.5" 1080P monitor - HD. It is $149. The resolution is: 1920x1080

Then there is this:

Acer 22" 1680x1050

Both are $149..... One is HD and one is not. The HD has a wider screen. Are the HD monitors good? Would I even notice a difference between the two?

The best advice I can give you is to go to a store and look at the difference yourself. Seriously. Everyone else can give you their opinions but until you see it for yourself, you'll never know for sure.

I just went to a store a few days ago and I plan to buy a 23" 1920X1080 monitor, I felt the icons on the 21.5" 1920X1080 were a little too small. I also preferred the wideness over the 22" 1680X1050.

Hmm.. Gotta find a store that carries these. Thanks

Well you don't need those specific models in the store, just monitors in general so you can check sizes and resolutions.

What are you using it for?

If its watching hi-def movies then the 1920 x 1080 [ 1080p ] panel makes sense .

If you are gaming then that might not be the case . There are a lot of extra pixels on that panel
1920 x1080 =2 073 600
vs
1680 x 1050=1 765 000

Thats nearly 18% more pixels so your frame rates in games will probably drop by a similar amount .
Can your gfx card cope? or are you ok with turning gfx quality down?
