Reset Password and then my Files and folders on the desktop are all..gone.

Hello,
I have XP Sp2. After using Offline NT Password to reset my password, suddenly all my folder on the desktop that I created before are all missing,just some installed programs shortcut. I've been through folder option>show hidden file,recycle bin, search it and also using some of the recovery software, but everything is not there.
Can anybody help me? Is there a simpler solution to find my
missing desktop folders and files?
