Is this graphics card any good?

I'm not so good with computers but am learning about them to build a gaming computer.So i was wondering if Radeon HD 3870 X2 1024MB GDDR3 PCIe Graphics Card is any good?

Its ok by todays standards, as being mid range. Its older tech, runs hotter, uses more electricity etc. The 4xxx series is the new stuff, and theres several 4xxx seies cards thatll outperform it, plus, you have crossfire to deal with, which can be a problem

I agree with jaydee go for a HD 48xx card.
But about CrossFire,it depends on what resolution u play at,if u play @ high resolutions like 1920x1200 or higher then u will benefit from it.
