i5-2500k on MSI P67A-g45 Overclock Question

Here's what I'm running...

CPU: i5-2500k @3.30 GHz
MOBO: MSI P67A-G45
CPU COOLER: Cooler Master Hyper 212+
PSU: Rosewill RG630-S12 630W
GPU: Radeon HD 6950

I was wondering what would be a good, safe overclock for my machine. I'm brand new to OC'ing so any advice on how to go about it on my mobo would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

Depends on voltages and temps. I would say anything from 4.0-4.4 is pretty easy with that setup

Exact same setup as me except I have the 2600K and a 750w PSU and I run H2O.

4.0 - 4.4 is quite reasonable.

What would a good voltage be for a 4.4 overclock? Would 1.28 vCore be about right or should I go higher or lower?

It's possible, depends on the chip though. You'll have to test is with Prime 95. My i7 2600K is at 4.5 ghz just under 1.3 v

Right, Right. For the I5 it should be in the 1.26-1.32 range. Make sure you bench test it for stability though and watch your temps.

@bearclaw99 what yours max on the I7 or have you done that yet?

I set it to 4.4 GHz at 1.3v and it seems to be stable. Ran Prime 95 for a little while and played The Witcher 2 for several hours and the temps didn't go above 65C with no strange behavior. Idle temps range from the mid 30s to low 40s.

Good Deal. TBH, anything over 4.5ghz is neglible with the sandy bridge. Performance does outweigh the power usage. Let us know if you need anything else.
