Cannot detect my harddrive

When I connect to the lpatop, the the light on the hard drive is stagnant, it doesnt blink.

Is this an External HDD that you are trying to connect to your laptop's USB port?

If this is the case and the HDD is not recognized, connect it and open Control Panel ---> Administrative Tools ---> Computer management ---> Storage ---> Disk Management. Select the HDD is question and do an NTFS format. Re-start the computer.
