Transfering Data

Hello,
I recently purchased a new computer with windows 7, I am trying to pull data from my old hard drive using a USB 2.0 to sata IDE cable better known as an R-Driver, I cannot get it to work can anyone help me as I need to get my manuscript and other files off of this hard drive.

Windows 7 does not acknowledge the device to pull up the hard drive

the Jumper on the IDE drive needs to configured the drive as a Master. If it set to Cable Select in most cases it will not work.
