Hi, does anyone know of a good way of mounting an intake fan in place of two or three 5.25" bays. I can only find one product that even remotely resembles this (Thermaltake iCage) and that isn't really what I'm looking for; I already have fan(s), just need a mounting that looks good.

On a related subject, in your esteemed opinions, should the fan on the side-panel of my case be an input or an output. It came out of the box as an output fan but I can't help the feeling that I should turn it around...

Pretty sure Scythe makes one. Or, you could just mount it with zip-ties.

I'd make the side fan intake. It'll help cool air get to the GPU.

There are several drive bay devices available from online vendors that have 120mm fans mounted on the front of the device. They require three free external drive bays. I use the Coolermaster 4-in-3 bay device. It can hold four hard disk drives behind the fan:

Typically a fan installed on a side panel is used as an intake fan to provide additional cooling for either a video card or a cpu. I depends on the location of the fan. Some cases have two openings on the side panel - one for the cpu and one for the gpu.

Cool, thanks. I think I'll go with one of those 4 in 3 bay adapters after all. Without any hard-disks in the way, the air should be blowing straight over my RAM too :-)

Then, look at the Scythe "Kama Bay" fan:

^+1 Very much the sort of thing I'm, looking for. Only then I'd have two front intakes and one at the side. I guess I have to upgrade my extractors at the back a little...
