I think most of the system should be fine but I really have no idea whether the CPU and the motherboard are the best choice. I've read lots of good stuff about the ASUS P5Q and it's been recommend by quite a few people, too. The CPU seems a little old but it's one of the cheaper quad cores. So my questions are:
Should I stick with that motherboard or buy another one instead?
Is the CPU fine or should I take the Q9400 (or something totally different?) instead?
I agree with tidefan94...going with even the older quad cores will still give you a solid build...I built my friend a computer using a first gen phenom quad core processor (he needed a pc that could multitask like a mofo) and he absolutely loves the way how smooth everything runs
