DDR2 Ram in a DDR3 MOBO?

Is a DDR3 MOBO backwards compatible with DDR2 Ram modules?

No. If the MB requires DDR3, DDR2 DIMMs will not physically fit in the DDR3 slots. MB manual states which type of RAM to use.
