Hey guys!

I just put together this system:

Asus P5Q pro
Radeon 4670
Intel Core2duo
Corsair 750W
4GB ram

But what happens when I turn it on is a black screen, and one long and three short beeps. Thats a GPU related problem, right?

What I'm not sure about is what to put into the EATX12V connector. My PSU has 4 6-pin with a 2-pin extension cables, but they don't fit. I have one 8pin which I have plugged in there now, but it's obviously not right. What am I doing wrong? I have tried clearing the BIOS.

No, it's a GPU problem. I removed the ram and got a different beep code. I then put in my old 8800GTX, and it works perfectly.

I really have no idea what's causing this now. The Radeon card works in my older computer (where I got my 8800 from).

Well, the Radeon 4670 doesn't need an external power connector. Anyway that should be a RAM problem looking at the beep codes. Try your new system with the 4670 and one stick of RAM. Next try the other stick.

By the way, the 8800GTX is considerably faster than a single 4670 so you may just want to use that instead :D.

We had this exact thing last month with another build. That person also had a power hungry 8800 and some newer card that needed less power, at idle. I recall that our theory eventually was that the power supply was to blame, but I do not recall if that was the actual solution or not.

If your board claims a memory problem only when a certain video card is plugged in, that makes me suspect a voltage problem. If not the PSU then the power from the PCI-E slot is the problem, perhaps.

I'm not replacing them :) I just happen to have two computers,
one with gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3P motherboard and GeForce 9600 GT 512MB Palit

and second one (for office mostly) with asus P5Q-P45 motherboard and 9400 GT 512MB Gigabyte

GF9600 works on both pcs and GF9400 only on first one.
I need it to work on the second one....

I checked everything, flashed new bios, checked memory...
It;s still the same - when GF9400 is in asus P5Q it gives me one long beep followed by three short ones...

I think it can be something with power on PCI-Ex16 2.0 slot... (because GF9600 has an extra power connector and GF9400 doesn't)

maybe I should change some power options in bios? (I don't know which and how..)
