Hi,

Building a i7 machine, would like advice on the components selected. Thanks.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: this week

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: audio, video, and photo editing (Protools, Premiere, Photoshop), movies, the then regular background apps like Outlook, itunes, etc. Usually have many programs going at once. No gaming needs.

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg.com

OVERCLOCKING: maybe -- haven't really looked into it. probably won't overclock.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: quiet system is preferable, hence the case selection....

do i need thermal compound?
will I need to get cables for OEM drives?

Thank you.

PSU is enough, and swap the 9500GT for a 4670 512MB unless you need CUDA, then you'll want a GTS 250 or above.

then swap the dvd burner for a SATA one. You might also want a quiet heatsink as well, look at Noctua heatsinks for that purpose.

^ well, yeah, otherwise your processor would die. And you also said quiet which is a hard task with i7 processors as for good temps you need a very good cooler and so far only a few heatsinks have mastered this, some of these being from noctua.
