the first SATA connector looks awfully close to the horizontal space for the PCIE though.... is this a concern?

it will fit but what kind of power supply do you have? How many watts does it have?

it came with 300W psu.. but a friend helped me upgrade to 500W OCZ.

you should be good to go then

that should run a 9600GT fine (assuming it has the PCI-E power connectors, even then u can use an adapter), question is what ur budget is. u might be able to snag a better card that u missed that we people that breath gfx cards can help u find :D is there any specific reason you came out saying I want to upgrade to 9600GT?

thanks for all the reply so far!

the psu is ocz500sxs, it has 1 pcie power connector on it.

i want a nice graphics card for around $100 and the 9600 gt seemed to fit in that price pretty well right now (and i am more aware of nvidia cards than ati, not fanboy though). i am not looking for some crazy graphics card because i just want this system to last me for a couple of years more maybe. i am not a hardcore gamer either, i mostly play online games, RTS. the only game that pushed my system to the ground was GTA IV, game is crazy intensive on graphics.... =(

try one of these cards, they offer a better performance then the 9600GT (a nice card still)

9800GT $99 w/ a free game

wow the 4770 finally came back to real world pricing...it only took 3 months

yeah i'm also on the side saying u should get a 4850. Great card for a great price. Don't waste your money on the 9600GT.

wow guys, thanks for all those links..
how can ati cards be so much cheaper? seems unreal!

when i put the new card in, would i need to reinstall windows?

Reply to strat2297

ATI does not spend as much as Nvidia in marketing, all those "the way it's meant to played promos at the start of each game.

you don't need to reinstall windows, just uninstall the old card's drivers and install the new ones from the ATI/Nvidia web site.
