I have an hp 740b dual layer burner, it burns single layer dvds ok, but when I put a dual layer dvd in it keeps saying please insert media in drive

Some drives are very fussy about brands they will use. Check the make and model of your burner then head to the manufacturers website and check which brands / formats it works with.
