I have celeron 1.7GHz, 128kB cache, intel D845GVAD2 MB, 128MB RAM.

Recently it has become slow with windows XP and Avira antivirus SW

Is it worth upgrading the RAM ? 256MB or 512MB or 1GB ?

My applications are for home: video and audio player, MS office, anti virus SW, internet browsing.

Must I upgrade my PC or RAM upgradation will serve my purpose ?

Your machine is severely outdated. More RAM will help if all you do is browse and type, but don't invest any more than that. If you want to upgrade further you're best off starting from scratch with a new computer.

UPGRADE the whole PC.You will notice a BIG difference even going for a dual core.

But if you don't wanna do that

Get a 512MB Ram.
Cuz with that proccy you won't be able to multitask.
So for 1 app at a time that much of ram would be enough.

Throw your whole system in the garbage. Build an E1600 rig
