Crossfire bridge question

I read on a few sites people posting that using two crossfire bridges on a dual card setup gives more fps. I can't believe this as the two slots on the cards are for 3 or more video cards in crossfire. Anyone any any input on this? It seems like placebo or people simply not knowing what they are talking about to me.
