Aspire 3680 cant install sound card

Hello,
did clean XP Pro install on Aspire 3680, can't get any sound from speakers (just squawk when I push wrong button)
loaded drivers, not sure if they took.
Results: system says
1) sound device not installed
2) no playback device
3) no volume control (can't install)
4) no active mixer

See if Windows Audio Service is turned off. Here's how:

-try reinstalling the drivers.
-disable soundcard and restart, enable soundcard and restart .
-check settings in bios related to sound
-see if U have any chipset drivers to install, and maybe some bios updates or fixes.
