New SSD performing poorly....?

Hello all.

I recently purchased an Intel x25-V 40GB.

It seems to be performing well in practical use. However, I decided to run some benchmarks that online reviews had used in order to compare my results. I figured they would be the same. However, in two areas they are much different: the 4k write and they 4kQD32. They are 6-10 times lower!!

Online Review: CrystalDisk Results

4k write= 41MB/sec
4k QD32 read= 131MB/Sec
4k QD32 write = 41MB/sec

My results:

4k write = 3.7MB/Sec
4k QD32 =22.23 MB/Sec
4k QD32 write = 4.0Mb/Sec

There are other people who have posted results for this drive from CrystalDisk and they also have results similar to the online review.

Is there a defect in my SSD or is something not configured properly on my PC? I did a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro onto it the other day.

System Specs:

ASUS P8H67 Evo
i5 2500k
8GB DDR3

Thanks, Yes I will do that tomorrow.

But I did manage to fix the write speeds by enabling write caching. They are now at what they should be.

The 4k QD32 read is still the same - 6x slower.

I think the problem may be that I'm in IDE mode, not ACHI. So I will switching that. Although, I've read of some people acquiring very slow boot times after switching.
Hope all goes well!!

Oh, and in you're article you mention turning off restore....is it alright to simply have it set to less than 1gb, say 700mb? I know it causes for the most part unnecessary writes to the SSD but it has saved me a couple of times.

Thank you for that article!! Enabling ACHI was what did it. I now have a 5 second faster boot time and my crystal Disk performance is beating the online review in all areas.

Thanks so much.
