Hard drives keep failing

Had a working 600GB caviar WD hard drive as my main for a year or so and it died randomly, so I replaced it under warranty and it worked again up to a month ago. I replaced that one with my other identical hard drive I've been using as a back up. A month later (now) THAT hard drive has died. I'm trying yet another drive (WD green 1TB).

Anything I can do to prevent this drive from dying? Could it possibly be a hardware issue that's affecting it? My memory checks out fine. Also, when these drives died, it was random. No hardware changes or installing new programs. Seems like random data corruption and if it keeps happening, it can't just be bad luck. I can't keep spending money on these things.

Same with 750GB and 1TB Seagate drives... :(
Six in 2.5 years.

Not just money, time and data too.

Maybe wacky electricity is killing them? Your PSU might hate HDDs or maybe the electricity from the wall. Use a good surge protector.

It might also be from vibration or rough transportation.

You don't have magnets stuck to your case do you? :D

You should try your luck with externals.

You can try changing the SATA cable. Perhaps the current one is defective. You can also try moving the drive to a different SATA port.
