have you tried plugging the speakers into the front jack? I know you said that they work on an old system but its always good to double check. If they work up front and not in the back then you may need to RMA the board unfortunately.

Just tried the swap to the front jack. Still no sound. I'm thinking that there is some unknown incompatibility issue with Boston Audio.
The old system has an Creative Sound blaster, set through the OS (XP SP3) to full digital.
The Asus mobo sends out two channel PCM digital HD audio.
The BA 7500G speakers do date from 2002.
Thanks so much for your thoughts. Any other ideas?
Its the full digital that is causing you the issue, When i set my Sound Blaster to full digital my Bose speakers dont work and they are reasonably new, most older speakers were fully analog because it gave them more precise response and took less circuitry than digital did but if your speakers are fully digital then you likely wont get anything out of them because most audio output is analog by default for headphones and older speakers.

Thanks Hunter, you seem to know your audio.
The Boston Audio BA-7500G speakers are full digital. The G in the model number refers to Gateway. They were speakers that came with a full system that I bought from a Gateway Country Store in early 2002. These stores are now extinct. The Gateway system (with ME OS) was a real piece of crap, but the speakers were good. (I'm sure that the Gateway systems now are much better since Acer bought them) At first I could not get them to work and called Boston Audio. I was instructed to double click on the speaker icon in the system tray, click on advanced and select the digital output only option - then the speakers worked. So I think that they are full digital.
Going to call Boston Audio on Monday, to see if they can shed any light on this issue. Also, have a request in with Asus to try to help clarify matters.

Thanks for your responses!
I too tried to install the boston digital BA7500G on my new computer with windows 7. I have been unable to get them to work. I also had the same computer from gateway, and purchased it at around the same time. I took the sound card from the gateway compured and added it to the new computer, and I still get no sound.
Where you able to get them working? Or, am I wasting my time?

Hi, I never did get them to work - and I tried everything. Even a Boston Acoustics tech rep said that there was no hope for the BA-7500's in a phone conversation. They are obsolete, I'm very sorry to say as a new quality speaker system is fairly expensive. Good luck!
