Should I update the bios for my ASUS P7P55D-E PRO?

I've been overclocking my core i7 860. I heard from a buddy (that usually has his tech info straight) that I should update my mobo to the latest bios which is 18 months newer than the bios that's currently on it.

Is this a good idea? It kind of sounds like a pain in the butt. Also, would it really help me OC? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do you have any problem with your rig? Because unless that you want upgrade your CPU and the mobo's manufacturer say you that you need the latest BIOS version, you should keep the current one.

agree with @saint
bios update done if the system is not stable, you can check on their site there is usually a warning.

I've updated my P7P55D Pro's BIOS several times, never had any issues here. But like it's been said, unless there's actually an issue it's best to leave it be. You can check what features the new BIOS adds, because maybe it's something important to you, but generally, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I tested all the BIOS versions available for my mobo, some was very good and other just work for delete RAID arrays and don't give me the same stable overclock that I have now.
