Hp dvd840y internal drive won't recognize dvds

My dvd840y drive is internal drive it won't recognize dvds, I tried to update the drive but I can only find the 840e and when I try that one it says it is a mismatch?
I have used it before and worked fine!
Can you help?

If I assume that you are running windows, you could go into device manager and uninstall your cd drive. Restart windows and let it find the drive and install the device drivers. If your running newer than windows 95 than you should not need to download any other drivers.
