Please help and bear in mind I am not techy, but I have had it with my support guys who keep giving me a new laptop yet all that is wrong is that my DVD drive and CD drive is not detected, the message I get is this Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)- How do I fix this, can anyone please help??
Normally the device driver for your DVD/CD drive is the generic one that is installed with the operating system. Do this right-click the my computer short cut on you desktop, left-click the properties selection in the drop down menu, left-click the hardware tab, left-click the device manager control button, left click the + symbol before the dvd/cd-rom, double click the drive. If there is an issue with the drive there should be a yellow question mark near the symbol for the drive. See if the device usage is "use this device". From here you double left-click the "troubleshoot" control botton, check the driver by left-clicking the "driver" tab. You can try to re-install the driver by automatic searching for it. If the dvd/cd-rom drive is not visible, go to the control panel under setting in the start and select add hardware and then press the "next" control button.
