Installing a ssd and hdd in a new PC

Do I need to make the HDD slave? There don't appear to be the pins available I'd expect to do this

EDIT: nevermind ... I guess I was thinking of IDE drives the last time I did this and it's not necessary with SATA.

I would recommend to have only the system disk (which I assume it will be the SSD) connected to the system when installing the OS. That is to avoid potential conflicts when installing the OS.

Thanks for the reply. When installing the OS it did prompt me which drive I wanted to use and so I was able to specify the SSD.

If you have two drives available when you install windows-7, it will put a recovery partition of 100mb on the second drive to aid recovery if the main drive fails.
This can sometimes cause other problems. If you have only one drive online, the recovery partition is put on that drive.
It is not worth it to try to remove the recovery partition.
