BOOTMGR not found after using Acronis clone disk feature?

Hi everyone,

I've recently installed a new Seagate hard drive into my machine as my old one is too small and close to retirement.

After installing my new HDD, I used the clone disk function that came with Acronis True Image Home 2011 in an attempt to copy my Windows 7 install as well as everything else, but after it saying it had successfully completed and rebooted, the error message "BOOTMGR not found" appears.

Is anyone able to give me some advice at all? It would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Sam

How many drives were in your old system? How many were installed at the time you installed windows? It's possible that the boot loader is on a different drive than the operating system.

Windows seems to like putting the boot loader on a separate drive than the OS drive. This is why I always disconnect all but one drive when I install an OS, then reconnect the other drives after installation. This forces windows to put both on a single drive.
