Hi,

Has anyone had a good experience with a wireless laptop connection via USB?
I read a lot of stories about how the connection is dropped constantly.
Unfortunately, I need my cardbus slot though for something else (dual output
sound card) but am reluctant to try USB wireless.

any feedback appreciated,
John

I don't have any problems, with various USB adapters. The only
annoying thing is that the USB adapter protrudes a long way and is
kind of irritating.

This seems like common sense now, but it threw me at first -- if you pay the
premium for a wireless USB NIC configured for 802.11"g" (as opposed to "b" )
you'll only get the speed advantage if you hook it up through a USB2 port.
The original USB1.1 won't yield the highest speeds. I found this out the
hard way.

Other than that, though, my wireless USB connectors work OK. All in all,
BTW, I think I get a better signal from the PCI wireless card I've got than
the USB wireless adapter, but that may just be in my situation.

Didn't the hardware requirements for the G network card specify USB 2.0?

All components have to be G rated also, Router and NIC. PCI connects to the
data bus via a shorter path, where USB has 'to drive thru uptown to get to
downtown...' Isn't it: generally anything PCI is faster, except AGP-type which
directly addresses the data bus?
