CPU connector question on gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P

I'm thinking about buying this motherboard and using an AMD Athlon II X4 620 propus 95w quad core CPU. The CPU power connector on this board is 8 pin and my power supply only has a 4 pin. Will it work with just the 4 pins connected? I've seen 8 pin motherboards running fine on 4 pins but they had a removable cover on the other 4 pins suggesting it's ok to use a 4 pin...

I plan to overclock the processor to around 3 GHz which seems reasonable as others have o/c'd to 3.9 GHz on air.

You can also purchase an adapter to go from 4 to 8 pin plug.
