This is simply for the record. I was looking for an answer to this a while back, and want to put it on the record so others don't have to wonder.
-- As far as I know, a PCIe x1 card can work in a PCIe x16 slot. I've done it with an AverMedia TV tuner (on an XFX 780i MB), and recognized by windows, drivers installed, etc.
If anyone has anything contrary to this, do post it, but otherwise this is simply here to fade into the archives and serve anyone who is looking for a definitive answer through search engines.
