New US$1000,00 i7 Build

Hello Folks,

I would like to build a new computer, with a US$ 1000,00 budget.
I've been with my current (OLD!) system for more than 3 years, so no parts of it will be reused, except the monitor (Samsung T220, a 22" monitor) ...
Any tips from you guys would be appreciated.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE:
1 - 2 months maximum

BUDGET RANGE:
US$ 1000,00

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT:
1) Gaming!
2) Music
3) Internet

PARTS NOT REQUIRED:
I already have a Samsung T220 (22 inches, DVI only, no HDMI), which I like a lot. I do not watch movies in my computer, so the lack of HDMI is not a problem.

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS:
newegg.com is OK, but I can use others too.

PARTS PREFERENCES:
Intel i7, and a case that does have enough room for the parts and a good airflow, or support for water cooling.

OVERCLOCKING:
Just a light overclock, I do not want to go to the extremes here

SLI OR CROSSFIRE:
Maybe in the future, but not now

MONITOR RESOLUTION:
1680x1050

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
1) SILENCE is important. Not *complete* silence, but I don't want a 747 screaming loud in my room
2) I would like a backlit keyboard, because I prefer to game with lights out (for immersion).
3) A good mouse and a good 2.1 sound system is desired.
4) I would like to be able to perform updates to this system, so upgradeability is also a important factor.

You're going to have to break the bank a bit. A quite PC w/ a keyboard and speakers, and AN i7!!!! for 1000, is a hard choice. Save up 200$ in those 2 months you're going to wait and do this build right, or it won't meet any of the requirements you're asking for.

Total comes to 1233$ with all MIRs. I could compose a PC somewhat near to your specs, but quite, cheap, upgradable, and good airflow are not all possible at once.

i would go AMD Phenom II, you don't really need an i for games, the AMD setup would work just as good

People above covered most of the stuff well. I don't know how much of a music person you are but if you're really into sound quality/system and music you can look into some better speakers. SWAN M10, Audioengine A2, and etc. The two I listed are the entry level audiophile multimedia speakers but they are just outstanding. I have M10's myself and I tested out the Audioengine A2's at a store and that thing can go loud without distortion despite its size. Only thing about A2's are that they don't have a separate sub so if you're into heavy bass for hip-hop, explosions for movies/games, it can't provide the ground shaking bass.

I'd say most likely you'll be happy with the onboard sound but if not, E-MU0404 for the future reference.

Also you can replace the case fans with Scythe fans, they may be able to provide the good airflow you need yet low decibel.
