Hello,
I just did a fresh reformat on my main gaming pc. I noticed that my cpu isn't running at its full capacity.Currently it is running around 2.4gigz. Usually it runs at 3.1gigz give or take. I just finished installing the factory default mobo drivers. Also finished installing the gpu drivers and it seems to be running fine. The only thing that isn't running where it should be is the cpu.

System Specs

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit
CPU : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
RAM : Corsair xms2 DDR2 800mhz
GPU : Ati Radeon 4870x2
Mobo : Asus m3a78-t

Solution
200X12= 2.4GHz
200X15.5=3.1GHz

I think that could be your problem.
Just make sure that all the other setting don't show something funny.
Maybe your best bet is to get into BIOS, write down your settings right now, then load the default settings and go from there.

Did you check the BIOS settings?
Maybe it's just powering down because it's idle.

Im fairly new to the whole overclocking scene. So its hard for me to tell right from wrong. I know during a full load say when im playing crysis. The computer itself is not getting hot or overheating in any fashion. Aparently the max clock speed is set to 2.4gigz. Im assuming its a bios problem then due to the fresh format?

The format doesn't affect the BIOS settings, you either have to change them, or sometimes an error will load the default settings.

I had the computer professional built by a shop. So I did not know the details on what they did to set this machine up. It could very well be possible something happened during the load. Any tips on how I could maybe defuse this problem? Sorry if I seem alil clueless but I never experienced this problem before.

When you enter BIOS, look for the CPU multiplier (I don't know what can it be called on your BIOS) or maybe the Front Side Bus settings.

Which BIOS do you have?

Please post what multiplier are you using and the FSB speed.

Thanks for all your help! Your advice helped me out alot and I appreciate it. One thing I have learned is to comb through my bios after every format to see if there is anything fishy. :)
