MS Office is a paid for product and quite an expensive one at that. You therefore need a CD with the right Certificate of Authenticity on it to verify the Product Key that makes it work properly.
There is, however, a first-class free product called Open Office which is developed by progammers in the GNU or Linux (*nix) community for the benefit of everyone. Download it free from http://www.openoffice.org and it will work with all your existing MS Office documents, spreadsheets, presentations and databases.
They welcome donations but it is free if you prefer.
