Can anyone help me ?!?

I recently installed a new cpu, the core 2 quad q9400, now it does work, but the computer only boots every second attempt !!!! i turn on the pc and get nothing, hold the power button to switch off and start again and it works, more annoying than anything but is there possibly an underlying issue that is going to crop up and kick me in the ass soon because i have ignored this !!!!!!

the board is a DG33BU (Intel board, i used the intel cpu comparison chart to check the new cpu would work)
power supply is 350w, and radeon geoforce 9400gt.

Thanks anyone that has any ideas !!

well first is how old is your PSU and what brand is it?

Also is it staying on after the second boot or is it restarting/shutting down after a while.

That's one of the more common PSU problems (after "doesn't work" ).

cool so im getting a hd4870 which for all intense purposes needs a 500w psu to run so would i be safe in saying that i should invest in a new psu and that would sort the problem ?

A good500 watt PSU - something like an Antec 500 Earthwatts or better. I'd use a 550 watt Corsair.

The Chieftec is one step above junk.

And when you upgrade, install the new parts one at a time with the PSU first. If you install both parts together and the system doesn't work, you will not know which part is bad.

Ya getting a Corsair VX550 is a great idea.
It will handle 4870 with EASE.

Do you mean you have to press the power button 2 times?

yea, i press the power button once, nothing happens monitor registers no input, hold the power button to power off, then do it again, straight away i get the geforce 1024mb details and the computer boots perfectly ! pain in the ass more than anything !!

Turn on the switch but don't turn on the CPU button so soon.
You may get it in one try.

Same happens to me.I have Corsair CX400.It does the same .
I have to wait a while after Powering on my UPS and before turning on the CPU button.
Like a 5 second wait.
But my Generic PSU(Which I had earlier didn't do so)
